Shourouk / France
Tunisian-born Shourouk Rhaiem graduated from Studio Berçot, and worked with Chloé, Galiano and Roberto Cavalli before launching her label in 2007. Swarovski crystals are key components in her designs, which she combines with surprising materials such as PVC and climbing rope. Having shaken up the code of Classical joaillerie by adding enameled neon stones to intricate embroideries, and mixing pop colors with pastels and nudes, she went on to create huge excitement with mash-ups of Bollywood, the Eighties and Russian aristocracy. Her funky fashion philosophy has inevitably led to collaborations with the likes of Jean Paul Gaultier, Hiroko Koshino, and Shanghai-Tang.
Inspired by Jacques Demy’s fanciful and carefree film made in the Sixties, Les Demoiselles de Rochefort, Shourouk’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection, with its floral bouquets and delicate crystal flowers in a vivid garden of soft pastels and vibrant hues, is the very essence of spring. Flower necklaces and earrings in pale rose cling to vibrant backdrops, while Seventies-style figurative jeweled butterflies make the pieces charmingly feminine and retro.
