Bijoux de Famille / France
Parisian designer Julie Pasquet graduated from Duperré Fashion School before refining her skills at Christian Lacroix and Barbara Bui, as well as younger studios such as Les Bijoux de Sophie in Paris and Eddie Borgo in New York. After further study in Fashion Design and Textiles, the desire to create jewelry took over her life.
She combines her obsession with fine materials, such as leather, crystals, gold and silver leaf, with her quest for cutting-edge techniques and her love of traditional crafts. To this she adds playfulness and an impulse to transform whatever materials come her way, with the result that Belle de Famille’s painstakingly embroidered and printed creations become modern and audacious.
Funky Treasure is inspired by the idea of stumbling upon a cache overflowing with sparkling stolen wonders, both antique and contemporary. A painting by Andy Warhol, some of the Crown Jewels, a precious headpiece that once belonged to an Indian chef, and diamond bling stolen from an American rap artiste. There are rubies, dollars, exotic feathers from rare birds, unusual fruits crystallized over time, and pieces from a sacred totem lying amid colorful beads. The Funky Dollar medallion and Emerald Baroque Dollar earrings recall a melting pot of rare and exquisite artifacts.
